Healing Hotspurs 5 - 1 Keelby United
Healing  - 14th September 2011

KEELBY United took on local village neighbours Healing at the Royal British Legion, Healing. Conditions were much better for this game than at the weekend, though with the evening sun going down fast, by the end of the game it was getting more and more difficult to see the ball.

Keelby started the game well and pushed the home team from the kick-off. With the ball being played in the opposition half for the early part of the game. Keelby got their reward for this early control of the game with a goal from Brayden Kerr which silenced the home crowd.

A long kick-out by Mikey Bray in goal was headed back by the defender, and the ball dropped into the path of Kerr, who still had much to do. Time always seems to go into slow motion in these situations and Kerr appeared to have ages to steady himself and strike the ball cleanly passed the keeper.

This was just rewards for the early dominance the away side had.

After the goal and for the rest of the half the game evened out into mostly a midfield tussle with both sides content with hitting long balls over the top for players to chase.   Keelby did however have a couple of shots from Liam Toner and Henri Holmes saved by the Healing Keeper.

The half ended 1-1.

In the second half Keelby had both the wind, which had got up, and the slope to content with and this seemed to somehow dampen their spirits, though they did show signs of some good play, with Tom Smith and Jack Chambers combining well to open up gaps for Kerr to exploit.

The second half saw a spate of free-kicks awarded to Keelby and if it wasn’t for the Healing keeper being on top form Keelby would have added to their score.

Keelby ended the game on the back foot, with possibly the fading light affecting their concentration.

At the end of the match, coach Neil Kenny, kept the players behind and asked them for a little consideration for their team mates and for more commitment during the match itself.

Keelby’s next game is against Cleethorpes Town on Sunday 18th September.
